Best Music/Media Player App

Ok... I guess I will try out a few players and post my findings.

The first one I tried was called simply "Cinema". The program is as basic as it gets.. there are literally no options, it just plays video. The controls are cool.. you tap the screen to pause and resume. You tap and drag left or right to FF and Rewind. If you hit the "home" button to leave the app... it will pick up the movie in the same place where you left it. You can also browse your whole SD card in any folder with a built-in browser.

As a test file I took a video Podcast (1up Show) and used the I-pod touch pre-sets in VEMoDe to resize the video. I set the resolution to something like 480x350 and it spit out about a 300mb mp4 video. It looks gorgeous on the screen and runs nice and smooth! No complaints so far. I know there are probably better programs to resize and re-encode... but this is one I had on my PC because I used to use it for videos on my Treo.

I'll try out a few other players, see how they work and post what I find. Cinema pretty much does what I need so far though... I'll have to try to encode an entire DVD movie and see how that works.

SlingBox vs Android TV

I have Slingbox, the box is located in the U.S. and I'm in Thailand. It's connected to Direct TV, so I can get hundreds of channels, including movies, TV series, sports events, etc.
If I get an Android TV box here in Thailand, will I be able to get the same choices I get with Slingbox?
Are there different Android TV boxes with different choices?

It's impossible to unlock a phone for free

I have done research for weeks about this, and there is no one single free way to do it. Also, most of the phone carrier refuse to give you unlock codes, and the few ones that do it, make it a big ****ing hassle, pain in the ass process, of course, they don't want anyone to stop using their OS. I was not the "owner" of the phone, and such as, they won't give me a code.

I wonder how this so called "unlocking" website get their codes from, if the average person cannot get a code themselves. You pay $15-25, and they send you a code. I bet, at least 95% are nothing but scammers, and the ones that are legit, probably want more than $25, with no guaranteed that the phone will have service after being unlocked.

You can use software to unlock it, but you also need a box, such as octopus and many others, and that costs plenty of money, might as well just pay for a code.

In the end, everything costs money

Grocery List/ Price Book App

You'd think there'd be an app for this already, but I can't find it.

Here's what I want:

1. I want to make a shopping list of general items. For example, Club Soda, or cookies; not specifics like brand and package size. I want to be able to specify what stores I might find these at, so that I can get a list of items to shop for at Target or Kroger or Home Depot, but not show the items that won't be there. For example, I can't get club soda or cookies at Home Depot, so I don't want those to show up on the list when I'm there. This is already available in an app or two. No new news here. If the app could know where I was automatically, that would be supercool, but not necessary.

2. When I'm shopping, I want to select the item I'm putting in my cart (eg. "club soda") and scan or enter the information for the specific item I'm buying. For example, if I pick up some Kroger-brand club soda, (which is called sparkling water and comes in 12 cans per case) I want to mark Club Soda off the list, and store the price as well as unit information. I also want a checkbox if it's a sale price, or the regular price. When I'm at Target, I want to enter the product I purchased at Target (LaCroix in an 8 can case) and enter price information for that product, but I want it all to be stored under "club soda".

3. Later, I want to be able to look up "club soda" and see the various products I've purchased and their prices, and the stores at which I've purchased them.

If I always bought the same brand and package size of everything, there would already be an app out there, but I don't, and I want to compare across brands and stores and package size.

Camera problem with my Moto Pure X

I tried to use my new Moto Pure X with two different camera apps that allow the user to set the ISO manually (rather than using the AUTO setting). In each case, after attempting to manually set the ISO, the camera app froze and I could no longer use the app (getting "app has unexpectedly quit") unless I went into the 'manage apps' and deleted the app data (not just the cache). I originally thought it was the app, but when I tried a second app and the same thing happened, I suspect the phone. I'm getting a replacement (hasn't arrived yet). Has anyone else seen this problem?

Camera problem with my Moto Pure X

Charging over usb-ports of laptop, slow/nothing

So, I am charging, or rather, trying to charge, my 5x. Since the charger supplied with it is back home, i am using some cables i bought on amazon, with type-C connectors. I plug these into my laptop, since I dont have a wall plug with usb port handy at work.

However, charging over the usb port seems to do nothing, or at least not charge my battery. Then I tried a little usb-micro to type-c converter plug on an older samsung charger which does plug in the wall, but that didnt improve it either.

I know the supplied charger works, and I know my car charger i got works too, both rapid charging too.

Any ideas? Are laptop ports not supplying enough amps?
