On my old phone (Galaxy S3), I have some custom sound files that I create for notification sounds. I had no issues using them on my old phone on all apps that allow custom notifications. On the Nexus 6P, I am unable to set custom notification sounds for Facebook Messenger. I do not even see my custom notification sounds selected on the list. All I have to select from are the set of notification sounds that came with the app.
I created the notification sounds using Talkadroid. It is an app that uses the text-to-speech engine. I type a few words and it generates the sound file that speaks those words. For instance, I use the app to create a sound file that says, "You have received email." I save it as a sound file. In Gmail, I can see the file I created and I select it. Whenever I receive email, I hear, "You have received email."
I tried copying these sound files to various folders like the media, audio, notification folders and other such folders all over the phone. It doesn't seem to have any effect.
