Galaxy S5 miscellaneous files

Can anyone answer the question of where all the Miscellaneous Files space is being consumed?

It appears to me that this thread is a case of failing to see the forest through the trees. The list of files given my Kizuna31 totals to about 109MB. So even if all of those files were deleted, the Misc Files would still consume 5.45GB. And the last few posts were focused on individual files that were measured in Kb!

So what is taking up the other +5GB? I am not critical yet, but have the same encroaching issue. Much of my 16GBs are taken up by System Memory (4.82GB), Used Space (4.69MB), Cached Data (408MB), Misc Files (3.91GB) leaving 2.2GB of available space.

My Misc Files list is about 220MB. So if I spend hours working figuring out what can be removed from that list, I might get all the way up to 2.4GB of free space. As Chris Farley said "Well la de fricking da!" Where is the other 3.7GB in Misc Files?

Another related question - why do these files not show up as part of the App Size calculations? An example, Waze. I had a 108MB Waze file in Misc Files. Yet according to the App data the sizes for Waze were App - 38MB, SD Card App - 51MB, Data - 9.6 MB, Cache - 3MB. The 108MB Misc File entry doesn't show up.

Then as a test of Misc File removability, I deleted that one. The App File size doesn't change. BTW, after deleting the file, Waze launched but wouldn't display the map. a reinstall fixed that. All to free up 100 MB of memory.
