How to backup everything on my phone?

You need to setup your phone to backup your data.

1. In Settings > Backup and reset > Backup my data > Enabled. Automatic restore > Enabled.
2. In Settings > Accounts > Menu > Auto-sync data > Enabled.
3. In Settings > Accounts > Google > Select your account > Select data to be backed up.
4. Contacts, calendar events, etc must have been saved to your Google account.

If you did these steps you apps, most of your setup and data will automatically be transferred to a new phone. SMS/MMS are not included, however, nor is anything on the SIM card, but you shouldn't save anything to the SIM anyway. Do a search for 'SMS backup' in the Play store and you'll find several utilities for that.

Backup photos, documents and other files manually by copying them to a computer or to cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox.
