Internal memory for storage

Hi, everyone.

I am having some problems with my Karbonn Sparkle V Android phone.
I am using Android 6 and I have a problem using the internal memory of the phone for storage.
If I connect the phone to my PC via USB cable and select file transfer, I cannot see my phone as storage drive, but only as "Portable V", with an icon that looks like a music player. When I access this folder, it is empty and I cannot do any operations in it.
While using a file explorer, I saw that my internal memory is labeled as "root".
How can I transfer files on my phone without inserting an SD card?
Not even downloading files from the browser of Dropbox worked.
I hope you guys can help me solve this problem.
Thanks.
