Phone won't turn on and warranty voided

My Galaxy S4 Mini turned itself off and wouldn't turn back on, I tried replacing the battery, holding down the power button for 10-15 seconds, holding it down with the volume keys but nothing seemed to work! I took it to a repair shop and when I went back to collect it after a couple of days they told me that my warranty had been voided and there was nothing they could do. I remember rooting my old phone but I really don't remember rooting my current one unless I did so after the first few days I got it. Is there anything at all that I can do?
