This same problem had affected my HTC Desire 601 for months. Updating the phone's PRL and profile (phone settings / system updates) might help for a few days, but then the problem would recur. Finally fixed for me when Virgin Mobile USA rolled out the Stagefright patch and system update several weeks ago. Has not recurred since.
